How to Use Perfectly Dosed Retinol Pads Like a Pro

It’s an understatement to say we’re extremely excited that our new Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Perfectly Dosed Retinol Universal 0.2% and Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Perfectly Dosed Retinol Extra Strength 0.5% treatment pads are finally on shelves. Now that they’re here, the obvious next question is how to incorporate them into what you’re already doing for your skin. But first, a bit about our latest innovation.

What makes Perfectly Dosed Retinol a skincare essential?

Each textured fiber round is saturated with the optimal amount of liquid retinol to deliver unrivaled improvements without irritating or overloading skin. There’s zero guesswork involved — just open and apply. This is important to note because a common complaint about retinol products is that it’s difficult to know how much to use each time.

The other big gripe about retinol is that it causes redness and irritation. Depending on your skin type, this may be inevitable when you first begin using retinol. Over time, as your skin adjusts to the new ingredient, the irritation will go away.

But impatient people will love that our Perfectly Dosed Retinol formulas also contain loads of skin-soothing, moisture barrier-building ingredients to help quell retinol-induced irritation from the get. That list includes squalane, hyaluronic acid, ferulic acid, bakuchiol, and rambutan.

These game-changing treatment pads are available in two strengths:

Perfectly Dosed Retinol Universal 0.2% is formulated for retinol newbies and those whose skin is on the more reactive side.

Perfectly Dosed Retinol Extra Strength 0.5% is made for experienced retinol users whose skin is already acclimated to retinol.

How do you use Perfectly Dosed Retinol?

This treatment is designed to be part of your nighttime regimen.

Step 1

After you wash and dry your face, take out a treatment round.

Step 2

Gently wipe your entire face with the pad two to three times before moving down to your neck, shoulders, and décolleté. You only need a single pad to cover this entire skin area. Don’t worry — each Perfectly Dosed pad contains enough retinol to do the job.

Step 3

Follow your Perfectly Dosed Retinol treatment with your regular Dr. Dennis Gross serum and Dr. Dennis Gross moisturizer

Pro tip

Everything in the Advanced Retinol + Ferulic collection is formulated to work synergistically with these new treatment pads. Therefore, you’ll get even better results if you apply our Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Texture Renewal Serum or Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Overnight Wrinkle Treatment and Advanced Retinol + Ferulic Intense Wrinkle Cream after your Perfectly Dosed Retinol treatment.

Regardless of your retinol experience level (learn more about retinol here ), you should start using your Perfectly Dosed Retinol just one night a week to ensure your skin can tolerate the ingredient. After that, you can increase to two nights a week (and then switch to the Extra Strength 0.5% version, if you start with Universal 0.2%). These heavy-duty treatments are only meant to be used a few times a week max, so start slow and you’ll reap the rewards of smooth, radiant skin.

Do I have to give up my Alpha Beta Daily Peel if I’m using Perfectly Dosed Retinol?

No way! We’d never make you abandon your Alpha Beta peel — it’s the cornerstone of great skin! But once you start incorporating Perfectly Dosed Retinol into your skincare routine, you need to do your Alpha Beta peel in the morning (if you were previously using it before bed).

Those with sensitive skin or prone to retinol-induced irritation may find they need to step down their Alpha Beta Daily Peel strength (going from Extra Strength to Universal to Ultra Gentle) while their skin adjusts to the new addition to their evening regimen.
